“Otherness” Is How Hyper-Learning Happens

The Science of Adult Learning is clear: no one can attain excellence by themselves. Almost all learning comes from having candid respectful conversations with others who have different views and life experiences than you. None of us by ourselves can overcome our reflexive engrained ways of thinking and emotionally reacting. We can’t overcome our cognitive blindness and cognitive biases by ourselves. To excel we need others to help us stress-test our thinking and to help us see things that we don’t see. In the Digital Age, most work will be done in small Caring, Trusting Teams because Collective Intelligence produces much better results than any one person can produce. Otherness is all about building Caring, Trusting Relationships with Others. Caring, Trusting Relationships make it possible to consistently have High-Quality Making-Meaning Conversations, which is the primary way Hyper-Learners learn. Are you the type of person that Others will want to help?
